A short post about last night and how once again I learned that my ostomy doesn’t matter.  I was texted late to get some drinks and didn’t have anything planned so I figured why not.  What I didn’t know and was one of the first surprises of the night was that it wasn’t just drinks with a friend to catch up, but she wanted to tell me that she had feeling for me.

It was a good time, but another surprising things happened.  She brought up my ostomy at the end of the night, which I wasn’t expecting.  Usually I bring it up first if I want to talk about it, like I know I will usually have to.  We got to talking about a lot of things, but it was a topic that was covered since she knew it was something that would naturally be on my mind.

At the end of the conversations she said something really amazing, when I asked her if she truly didn’t care about my ostomy.

She said “The ostomy doesn’t bother me at all.  What would bother me, is if you didn’t grow your hair long again.  I’ve seen pictures of you when you had it long and I love it.  That would be on my mind more then the ostomy ever would.”.

So not I’m going to truly start to do my best and attempt to not let the ostomy bother me at all.  I’m seeing more and more that all my friends were right and that it doesn’t matter.  I have to stop thinking that it does.

Even a few weeks ago at the beach in Atlantic City, people didn’t notice it.  Some friends even came up and told me how good I look and how the confidence of being at the beach, with my shirt off and a small amount of the ostomy showing was SEXY!

One of my ex’s and now good friends put dating with an ostomy into great words once.

She said “The ostomy won’t keep you from meeting the right girl Brian.  The ostomy will keep you from meeting the wrong one”

If it matter to anyone then they just aren’t worth my time and I’m seeing it matters to almost no one.  From now on I’m not going to let the ostomy affect my dating life.

I’m not sure were this will end up going after last night, but no matter what it was still nice to hear and made the night even better.

So, I’m in a very interesting position.

As most of you know, I have an ostomy. Which means I have to order medical supplies. Which means I need to be ready to drop around 60 bucks.

Well, I don’t have the money for that currently, so here’s where you all come in. I’m gonna take…

I know I’m SUPPOSED to be venting about my bag and all that stuff, but this sorta relates.

See, I have psoriasis. It gets around the ostomy site sometimes and is horrible and painful and itchy. However, I’ve finally found something that helps.

Along with lots of time outside, I also use…

So here’s a fun fact

extra-baggage:

My insurance is being a dick and won’t cover all of my supply costs. A normal supply purchase costs me around 200 dollars now, and that’s just copay.

Anyone know of a company that accepts state aid? I have two insurances, but one is a state run program. I need to order supplies, and soon.

From what I understand, having an ostomy with Crohn’s Disease is not a cure. It can provide remission for up to 10 years, but most patients relapse, and the Crohn’s pops up in another area.

Obviously I don’t have an ostomy, but I have done lots of reading on the subject and it’s typically a…

From my understanding it helps keep the bad days fewer and farther between.

Today a lot of talk has been going on about discrimination against ostomates in public swimming pools. There are people out there that want to ban ostomates from swimming in semi public and public swimming pools. The argument is that an ostomy in the pool would be unsanitary and offensive.

Is this legit? Like is this an ACTUAL fucking thing?

Well hey, while we’re at it, I’d like to ban idiots from trying to ban people from stuff.

Things that are awesome about having a functioning j-pouch:

  • Eating things I haven’t had in almost 6 months (oh man, cucumbers have never tasted so good)
  • Rarely going to the bathroom more often than the average person
  • Not worrying about emptying my bag
  • Being able to wear all kinds of clothes…

A diamond toilet?

agirlwithguts:

I wonder how much someone paid for this? Crazy.  I don’t think I would pay lots of money for something I am going to crap in but that’s just me.  hahaha

I realize I post many pictures of toilets, but maybe that’s because I spend a lot of time in the bathroom?  And I am always dreaming of creating my very own dream bathroom one day.

I will hopefully be back tomorrow with another vlog, or something good.  I have been busy with holiday stuff.  I am going to a themed party on the 23rd and I just finished creating my costume.  It’s pretty cool if I do say so myself.

Love you all,

Sara

I lied.  I got the video done about ostomy’s today!

Thoughts:  I have a very large forehead.  And it’s wrinkly.  I say “um” a lot and I apologize.  These edits are really really bad but I had to cut out all the parts where I stutter or lose my train of thought.  haha

Why do video’s freeze on you when you’re making the stupidest face possible? Awesome.

Having an ostomy and being very hot are by no means mutually exclusive.
