Some of the things the highly recommended female police officer handling my case said to me:
- What were you wearing?
- You should have better taste in men.
- We don’t have enough evidence to press charges. (Then a month later asks me if I submitted underwear in my rape kit.)
- He’s been plenty punished, he had to hire a lawyer! (After the crown attorney told me she would be dropping the charges due to lack of evidence that intercourse took place. Infuriated, I said, “So I was supposed to let him continue to rape me long enough so I could get dna evidence to prove intercourse happened? You’re letting this guy get away with it.”)
